Application: These Crosby Sling Saver Screw Pin Type Shackles are used for connecting nylon or polyester slings to pad eye, eye bolt, or lifting lugs in rigging and overhead lifting applications. Outfitted with a screw pin closure, these shackles are used in 'pick and place' applications that require frequent opening and closing. Designed for use with Type III (eye & eye), Class 7, 2-ply webbing, synthetic round slings, single ply, and endless slings. The sling saver shackles have an increased radius bow that gives the sling a wider surface leading to minimal bunching of the sling. The wide surface allows the slings to have an increased synthetic sling efficiency, which allows the sling to be used at 100% of the rated Working Load Limit. The increased width also allow the inner fibers of the nylon or polyester sling to have better load distribution overall. The screw pin shackle can be used in applications involving side loading, however this reduces the working load limit. During use, assure that the pin is not allowed to rotate as this may open the shackle.

Quality: All Crosby Sling Saver Shackles meet or exceed the requirements of ASME B30.26, which include identification, durability, design factor, proof load, and temperature requirements. These Crosby shackles also go above and beyond these standard safety requirements by including fatigue life, impact properties, and material traceability; factors that are not required by ASME B30.26. Meets requirements WSTDA-RS1 of the Web Sling and Tie-Down Association.
The Difference: Low quality lifting products can cause injury and damage. There are many look-a-like Crosby shackles that are often found at lower prices, and are also often advertised to conform to the same safety standards, if at all. Be aware that it may refer to safety ratings in effect decades ago. So for example, under the same safety standard a decade ago, a lifting shackle may be rated to 100% without proof load testing while today it may be 300% with proof load testing. Be assured that we only sell the highest quality lifting shackles and our advertised safety standards conform or exceed to the current ASME standards.
