Application: These Crosby shackles are used for connecting nylon or polyester slings in rigging and overhead lifting applications. These sling saver Crosby shackles have an increased radius bow that gives the sling a wider surface leading to minimal bunching of the sling. The wide surface allows the slings to have an increased synthetic sling efficiency which allows the sling to be used at 100% of the rated Working Load Limit. The increase width also allow the inner fibers of the nylon or polyester sling to have better load distribution overall. The Crosby shackle is outfitted with a bolt and cotter type locking mechanism used in applications that require a secure, long-term or permanent connection. This type of shackle can also be used in application where the load may slide and cause the pin to rotate.

Description: These Crosby shackles are made of all alloy steel construction. These shackles are forged- quenched and tempered. These lifting shackles are designed with a 5 to 1 design factor (theoretical reserve capability of working load limit) and are equipped with a Product Identification Code (PIC) for material traceability. These Crosby lifting shackles have the Working Load Limit number forged into the steel.

Material: Alloy steel, Body, pin and nut are powder coated

Quality: All Crosby shackle meets or exceeds the requirements of ASME B30.26 which include identification, durability, design factor, proof load and temperature requirements. These Crosby shackles also go above and beyond these standard safety requirements by including fatigue life, impact properties and material traceability, factors that are not required by ASME B30.26. Meets the Federal specification- RR-C-271D, Type: IVA, Grade A, Class 2, except for those provisions required of the contractor. Approval and certification in accordance with ABS 2006 Steel vessel rules 1-1-17.7. *Note all shackles 25 tons and above are equipped with RFID - radio frequency I.D.

The difference: Low quality lifting products can cause injury and damage. There are many look-alike Crosby shackles that are often found at lower prices and are also often advertised to conform to the same safety standards (if at all). Be aware that it may refer to safety ratings in effect decades ago. So for example under the same safety standard a decade ago, a lifting shackles may be rated to 100% without proof load testing while today it may be 300% with proof load testing.
